Text conversation with a friend last week: A: Where are you heading? Me: Nashville. A: Again?! #LaughingAndNodding Yes, I was just in Nashville in July and in Nashville the July before that, but this girl just can’t get enough of Nashville. If you’ve ever been, I’m sure you understand that love and connection that just pours out of visiting this city. There’s always something to see, amazing music to dance all night to, and the air just smells of hope & inspiration. Music City steals a tiny piece of my heart each and every time I go and it was just what I needed for a little Girls’ Week Getaway.
My BFF #LadyBoss lives across the country so the minute that she said “going back to Nashville in December” I checked my miles and found a ticket for $11.20. Texted her back and said “I’ll meet you there.” I of course was the only brunette in a sea of blondes all week! (Brunettes do it better!)
We stayed at the cutest little Air BNB and it was my first experience using the company. Other than the fact that we were a little bit out of town (but with Uber who really cares anyway) I now see why so many people are taking this option when traveling. We had 2 bedrooms, full bathroom, living room & kitchen and zero drunk people screaming up and down the hallways in the middle of the night #Wink
Since we were out of the downtown area it gave us an opportunity to spend a little more time in The Gulch and 12 South District shopping, eating, and taking in some quieter Nashville vibes. If you’re looking for a pretty great restaurant in the 12 South District, try out a burger at Burger Up – absolute perfection, my mouth is watering STILL thinking of that burger. Oh and you my as well top it off with a little dessert pit stop to Sprinkles. No, I didn’t actually utilize the Cupcake ATM because I had to get inside and check out the seasonals and boy was I glad I did. If you get a chance to go to Sprinkles before the holidays are over, I HIGHLY suggest the Gingerbread Cupcake.
Aside from the days spent in the outer boroughs of Nashville most (okay fine, all) nights were spent on Broadway. Favorite places to eat downtown: Bakersfield Tacos on S. 3rd Ave and Rippy’s Bar & Grill right on Broadway. These two are a must have whenever we are in Nashville. The tacos will blow your mind (their spicy margarita isn’t too shabby either) and do not skip the Mac N Cheese at Rippy’s.
We danced the nights away at Tootsie’s, The Stage, Crazy Town, and Legends, I guess we have a thing for the end of Broadway. If you’re ever in Nashville on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday make sure to take a stop into Tootsie’s between 6-10 pm to the 2nd floor bar and check out the Andy Gibbons band (gotta support my hometown music fam!).
There was a lot of drinking, late nights, hangover days…. Can’t hide or lie about that (all about that real ish). But, it’s always worth it in Nashville. It was a perfect girls’ week (and no we weren’t upset that we were there during the week and not a weekend it’s much nicer with 75% less foot traffic!). It’s a good thing that the BFF is moving down there because I can’t wait to plan my next trip, in warmer weather because it was a little harsh going from the Michigan temperatures to the exact same temps in Nashville on vacation. Maybe next time I’ll drag the husband along… maybe. #Wink
