Much to my family’s dismay, there are only 2 seasons / holidays that I decorate the house for: fall and Christmas. If they had it their way we would have holiday decorations for New Years, Valentine’s Day, Easter and so on and so forth. But lets be honest, I’m not crafty and it takes days for me to complete the two that I take care of. They’re not getting anything else out of me. I decided to limit the fall home décor to our main floor and buy things only on sale or clearance. It isn’t much, but super simple to DIY this fall home decor. (Note, most of my items were purchased at Shopko. If you do not have a Shopko near you, a few of these items can be ordered online at www.shopko.com but not all. I will try to link to comparable items on Amazon.)
We have an unusual amount of cupboards in our kitchen with a ton of space to decorate on top, which I love. I bought various 6 ft harvest garland to line the top. I kept some of the day-to-day décor there and filled in with fake flowers & baskets.
These canisters from Home Goods are great to jump from holiday to holiday and can be filled with just about anything to match your décor. I sent the kids into the woods in the yard with buckets and they came back filled with acorns (putting Mother Nature & children to good use). Pop in a couple of flameless candles for an extra touch.
One thing I wish that we had in our home is a mantel, but I’m SOL. Our Hammary Elipse Console Table from Wayfair (no longer available) acts as my mantel. I started with 2 6 ft garland pieces and laid a 6 ft LED lighted garland with acorns on top. The gold pumpkins match my candleholder (from Home Goods) and add a perfect ambiance to the metal theme throughout my living room.
To finish it off, I bought autumn candles! This is a BIG deal for me because I usually diffuse oils for scent and I couldn’t tell you the last time I burned a candle in my house. I am currently LOVING the aroma of the Spruce Mason Jar candles in Cozy Fireside scent.
