Countdown to Cancun (Day 9)

Haaaaaaa… I told you that I would struggle with keeping things updated! I wanted to do twice a week but here I am now on Day 9 finally getting this drafted and ready to post.  Whoops (I apologize), but it really is a miracle I have MADE it to Day 9 of the Countdown to Competition Meal Plan! If you are just coming across this and not really sure what I’m even talking about, you should read the Countdown to Cancun (Day 1) post first.

Countdown to Cancun Week 1

Did you see this post on my Facebook page? That was on Day 2 at like 11:00 a.m.  As you can tell I was pretty damn miserable that day.  That afternoon I actually received a phone call that changed a lot of things for me (which I haven’t yet disclosed so no you’re not getting my secret yet!).  At the moment I was feeling so many things and I’m going to be brutally honest with you.  I had headaches and stomach pains… I was EXHAUSTED and not just “oh okay I haven’t had enough sleep” I was EXHAUSTED.  I think the first 3 days I was in bed at 9:00 pm, which is UNHEARD of for me.  I was SO sick of chewing on meat and you don’t truly understand what it’s like to eat meat 6 times a day until you eat meat 6 times day! My mouth tasted like it was CONSTANTLY churning rubber.  (You’re getting really excited to follow this plan aren’t you? LOL).  That was all just days 1 & 2…

Photo Mar 25, 8 39 18 AMOn day 3, I woke up and it was my “high” carb day, so I INHALED a honeycrisp apple first thing in the morning and fully enjoyed my fruit and carbs, I am pretty sure it was one of the happiest days I’ve had in a long time and it even snowed like a mother trucker that day, but I didn’t care! I was in a good mood and I was going to enjoy it, even if that means heading out to the deck in the snow for some headstands!

As the week went on I truly started feeling better and my energy came up quite a bit.  I am still having a cup of coffee or plain chai tea in the afternoon to curb off dull headaches every now and then but it’s not terrible.  I also have been doing Shakeology in place of one of the meats during the day because I NEED my Shakeology so that helps to break up the day a bit!

Countdown to Cancun Week 1 Results

It really is embarrassing for me to open up and show how much I really let myself go.  I was eating a LOT of junk food throughout the last few months and drinking more than usual as well.  You could say that I definitely put on my “winter fluff” I guess; cabin fever got the best of me.  When I started I was at 118 pounds and my hips measured at 34″ and my waist at 31″ (these are the only measurements that I took because I prefer to do everything else by photos and SEEING the changes in my body.  After 1 week I lost 3.4 pounds, 1″ on my hips and 1.5″ on my waist.  So I’m happy to see that the nutrition changes are helping the belly fat area come down! (And TMI, but it’s the “time of the week” right now so I’m not surprised that it wasn’t more).

I managed to stick to my meal plan 99.9% perfectly throughout the week! (SCORE).  On Saturday night I did enjoy a glass of red wine while I watched the basketball games.  It was delicious LOL.  On Thursday (my higher carb day) I was out of town shopping.  Often times I would let this be the reason that I would eat out and eat whatever I wanted, but not this time! One major thing I noticed was that when it was time to eat… it was TIME to EAT! My husband even made jokes about how my job is just food now.  WELL YES!! I love food! LOL

Sticking with the Countdown to Competition Meal Plan

I’m happy to say that I’m almost HALFWAY through the program and I can’t wait to finish up my results before my trip to Mexico! I want to add in as well that I am not following the 21 Day Fix Extreme workout plan while on the Countdown to Competition meal plan.  I am a Chalene Johnson girl at heart so I’m currently doing a hybrid of PiYO, Turbo Fire, and ChaLean Extreme.  I lift weights with ChaLean Extreme 3 days a week with HIIT cardio from Turbo Fire and PIYO on the other days to increase my flexibility, and well because it’s my JAM.

I want to remind you that this is NOT a permanent meal plan! This is also NOT for everyone.  Too often I watch people that are trying to follow competition plans as they’re daily meal plan.  It’s hard on the body and not healthy for a daily lifestyle.  This is a TEMPORARY meal plan and it’s HARD stuff.  The meal plan is from the 21 day Fix Extreme  and if you would like information on starting a new fitness program or joining one of my Fabulous You Challenge groups please do not hesitate to contact me here!
