I think it’s “socially” acceptable to talk about Christmas décor now right? I personally had everything up the week before Thanksgiving but that’s just me. It’s not that I’m trying to rush through holidays; I just absolutely love the soft light ambiance that Christmas trees & Christmas décor provide. Here’s a little glimpse into our Christmas Décor.
I became obsessed with this bright color theme for our Christmas tree years ago. I have collected various items over the years from Shopko & Target (online only available) from their respective décor lines and it was much to my dismay this year that I can’t find anything from either to add to my collection (if you know where I can find things online to buy drop a comment below & let me know!). As you can see I take the minimal is perfection approach, minimal ornaments, consistent colors, and no stressing over ribbons.
When I was a kid my grandmother bought me a music ornament or snow globe every Christmas until I was 25 years old. As a kid I was thinking, “oh of course I know that this is another one of grandma’s music boxes” and I didn’t fully appreciate it until I was an adult. In our new home we have space upon space upon space and I can share my 25-year collection with friends and family. I wonder what kind of collection I should start for my daughter while she’s still young that she can roll her eyes to now and appreciate later.
While the upstairs has the modern feel, our bar / living area is much more traditional Christmas with a “lodge” feel in red, silver & gold. This is the area of our house that we enjoy our family time each night and where we spend Christmas morning together. The family tree is the kids’ tree to decorate and though I cringe looking at the multiple red ornaments on top of each other and not perfectly spaced, it is the tree where we will share our family memories and if they aren’t bothered by a “perfect” tree, then I do my best (#Wink) not to as well.
Speaking of collections, my mother-in-law also had a knack for providing Christmas gifts to my husband as he grew up (not quite yet 25 years) for that “some day” when he would have his own home and bar area. How cool are all of these Christmas Budweiser steins over the years?
Last but certainly not least; the Bling Girl Headquarters would not be complete without a pink tree.
